EQ vs IQ

What are EQ and IQ?

EQ, or emotional quotient, refers to an individual’s capacity for understanding their own emotions alongside those of another, while IQ stands for intelligence quotient, which indicates an individual’s intelligence level.

The world is having different opinions

Research shows that successful leaders and top performers possess highly developed skills in emotional intelligence. Companies know employees with high scores in emotional intelligence are not just capable of getting things done, but they are also more equipped to read situations in the workplace, relate with colleagues, cooperate, and problem-solve. People who have developed a well-developed emotional capacity are more likely to be satisfied and productive with their lives, having learned habits of the mind that promote their productivity; those who are not able to exert a certain amount of control over their emotional lives are fighting battles that undermine their capacity to focus on their job and think clearly.

Research has found that individuals who show high leadership potential are also generally more emotionally intelligent, suggesting a high EQ is an essential attribute for leaders and managers in the corporate world.

In recent years, emotional intelligence (EQ) has emerged as a crucial skill demonstrated by successful individuals in their professional lives, and an understanding of the concept can help us to better relate with others.

IQ is used to identify academic abilities as well as identify individuals who have off-the-charts intelligence or intellectual challenges. IQ tests measure both crystallized and liquid intelligence. Crystallized intelligence is knowledge and skills that we gain over the course of our lives, whereas fluid intelligence is the capacity of an individual to reason, solve problems, and comprehend abstract information.

A book called “Emotional Intelligence” suggests that business success is based on more than just cognitive intelligence, it is also built upon emotional intelligence. Because emotional intelligence is at odds with conventional definitions of intelligence, tests are not accurate predictors of success in school or in business.

The difference between these two is that nobody can change their intelligence or reasoning skills, but anybody can learn how to manage emotions, which will lead them to succeed. You can teach an individual how to manage emotions, to bring them to work for him.

Conclusion

Now, you can purchase toys claiming to help boost emotional intelligence, or sign kids up for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs designed to teach emotional intelligence skills.
