Cost of Living Ranking 2022
The ranking data is based on Mercer’s 2022 Cost of Living City Ranking. The change in the geopolitical situation and the changing climatic conditions have affected the cost of living globally.
Quick facts from the data:
- The most expensive city is Hong Kong and the least costly is Ankara which is the capital of Turkey
- Of the Top 5 most expensive cities 4 are from Switzerland
- From India, the most expensive city is Mumbai (no points for guessing) and the least costly is Kolkata (which is also a bit obvious). In Kolkata city, you can still have meals for INR 20
- Of the top 20 cities, China has 4 cities and these 4 cities are prominent cities with all the major industries and brands. Beijing (#10), Shanghai (#12), Shenzhen (#13) and Guangzhou (#18)
